BUYER BEWARE!!!
19 Reasons Why $ 1999.00 For Granite Countertops May Be Misleading

  1. Most kitchens are less than 50 SF, so if you are charged the “minimum” of $ 1999.00, you may be paying $ 50.00 or even $ 55.00 per square foot, of which there are many choices from quality fabricators
  2. Fine print – most $ 1999.00 providers say that your kitchen MUST fit one slab
  3. You may wind up with extra seams to be able to piece together your job on one slab
  4. You may find that the pattern of the stone is not matched at the seams, even turned at right angles, again to be able to piece together your job on one slab
  5. You may find that seams are in noticeable places, again to piece together your job on one piece
  6. You will have no control over placement of seams
  7. Your price will be subject to field measurements, which means you have already removed your own countertops and are in no position to argue price at that point
  8. You will need to remove your existing countertops BEFORE they make a template
  9. You will be without a working kitchen for more than a week
  10. You will pay EXTRA to have your countertops removed and disposed of
  11. You will have limited choice of color and edge
  12. You MAY find that the stone you bought is Commercial Grade, with too many white spots or black spots or just overall dullness of color and lacking vibrancy
  13. You May find that the stone you buy is not evenly polished
  14. You cannot easily refinish granite with dull spots once installed
  15. Your “Free” sink may lack insulation and Nickel content, causing more scratching
  16. Your “Free” faucet MAY look like Satin Nickel, but is actually a lesser grade finish with plastic internal parts
  17. You will have no guarantee on your new granite countertops
  18. You will have no guarantee on the sink
  19. You will have no guarantee on the faucet

You can buy quality granite countertops from quality fabricators who CARE about producing a product with the best stone available, using the proper techniques of matching stone and minimizing seams. There are MANY choices available in that $ 39.95 per square foot price and many more interesting options for just a few dollars more.

Take the time to visit experienced fabricators, learn what you can BEFORE you buy. It is way too difficult to return granite countertops, so be sure to make the right choice from the start. You really can spend too little on products like these and there is not much you can do once the job is done.
